SYDNEY FC skipper Tony Popovic insists his team will ride out its current slump with a united front as the men in blue bid to reignite their spluttering season.

The experienced defender admitted he was ‘fed up’ of facing the press after another home defeat, this time at the hands of Adelaide United, but he says none of the players is about to press the panic button.
What Popovic would like though is for Sydney FC to stop handing visiting teams the initiative and believes it is imperative his team begins to get its nose in front at Sydney Football Stadium.
Speaking after Saturday’s game, the former Socceroo said: “You have to stick together. You have injuries, you have problems but the group that we’ve got is the group we have and we have to stick it out.
“We didn’t lose through a lack of trying here. Unfortunately we’re having to chase games a lot at home. It makes it difficult when you’re playing a good team.
"It would be nice to get in front at home and hold on to it. If we did that then I think you’d probably see a different Sydney FC.
"But we’ve got to ride it out, we have to stick together and we can’t be divided now as a group. We have to try and pull through this.”
Sydney have only managed one victory in their six home games so far this season, a 1-0 triumph over Newcastle Jets in round six.
While disappointed with the home form and recent results, Popovic is convinced the Sydney FC squad is capable of fighting back and lifting the club’s fortunes once again.
The captain, who will be without fellow central defender Mark Rudan next week with the former captain having picked up his fourth yellow card of the season against Adelaide, said: “Definitely we have (the players to turn results round).
"Look I’m getting sick of sitting here and talking about a defeat. We lost another tough one.
"We’re not getting the breaks and probably not doing some of the little things that the boss wants but it would be nice to get a lucky break and let someone chase us.
“There’ll be no problems among the players, that’s for sure.”
