NEWLY departed Brisbane coach Ange Postecoglou has admitted for the first time he is in the process of finalising a deal to take charge of Melbourne Victory.
Postecoglou, 46, has been linked with a move to coach the AAMI Park club in the last few months before leading the Roar to back-to-back A-League titles.
Speaking on Fox Sports FC on Tuesday night, Postecoglou said he was hopeful of completing the move in the coming days.
"There's no secret about where I'm likely to end up. There are some things that still need to be finalised and hopefully they will over the next couple of days," the former South Melbourne boss said.
"I didn't want to talk about the future today, even in Brisbane, because I want to be respectful to the club that I have coached.
"It's important I close that chapter in the right way because the club deserves that, the supporters deserve that, and then I can talk about my future when and if it's decided."
Roar assistant Rado Vidosic appears the most likely candidate to take the reins at Brisbane, with the champions to make an announcement on the position on Wednesday morning.
Postecoglou, who said he was pleased to be leaving the Roar with a 'strong foundation', added his decision to move on was difficult to explain.
"I'm constantly trying to see where I'm at as a coach, what I can do next and the players will tell you I'm always on about complacency and not getting comfortable," he said.
"There's many challenges at Brisbane Roar still to be had but there was something inside of me the last couple of months that got me a little bit restless and got me thinking about things.
"I probably made a decision about a month ago but I haven't been batting away the questions, I literally have been just focusing on the grand final and I've said to everybody - whether that was suitors or Brisbane Roar - that I didn't want to talk to anybody that I wasn't going to."
