Newcastle Jets and Perth Glory have been forced to cancel their high-profile international friendlies against Audax Italiano next month.

The Jets were set to host the team from Chile in a pre-season clash on July 8, before Audax travelled to Perth for a game on July 12.

However, the proposed tour has now collapsed, leaving both A-League sides with a hole to fill in their schedules.

Newcastle Jets Chief Executive Officer, Lawrie McKinna, said: “Newcastle Jets agreed to play Audax Italiano in July 2017 after being engaged by a match promoter.

“Club staff have worked diligently to assist the match promoter leading into what would have been a unique international friendly for our club, team, members and fans.

“Nevertheless, factors outside of our control mean that Audax Italiano will no longer travel to Australia next month.

“We apologise to our members and fans who, like us, were looking forward to this fixture early in our 2017 pre-season,” McKinna added.
