Qatar coach Bruno Metsu admitted the hosts must beat China in their second Group A game tomorrow if they are to stand any chance of reaching the Asian Cup quarter-finals.
Qatar endured a disappointing start to the tournament when they were outclassed 2-0 by Uzbekistan at Khalifa Stadium in the opening game on Friday, while influential midfielder Fabio Cesar has also been ruled out with injury.
"We are waiting for a very important match," said Metsu. "Now we are in a situation where it is unthinkable for us to lose. We have to win.
"This is a very important and decisive match and different from the first match. We have to win. We know the Chinese team are very distinguished and organised and it is difficult for us to change the rhythm of this Chinese team but we will use every possible avenue to win this game.
"The pressure is always there but this time it will be different.
"Last time it was because it was the opening game but on Wednesday it will be connected to the result. We know that we only have one choice and that is to win."
China coach Gao Hongbo, meanwhile, revealed he will make a number of changes to his starting line-up despite their opening 2-0 win over Kuwait as they look to seal a place in the last eight.
"We will have a different line-up for the match," he said.
"We have a clear target that more players can experience the Asian Cup, more players can test themselves.
"We will change some starting players but I still think the match will be perfect, Qatar have very many good players and we will try our best.
"It is also a good exercise for our team because, in recent years, we've played a lot of home games but not many away games.
"All the 23 players can play in the next game. For our 23 players, there are no first choice or second choice, all the players are part of my plans."
