Striker Dado Prso will leave Rangers at the end of the season after finding he can't cope with the physical demands of Scottish football.
The former Croatia international was signed by Alex McLeish from Monaco in 2004 but has struggled for fitness for much of his time at Ibrox due to a persistent knee injury.
He had hoped to play a further year in the Bank of Scotland Premier League but decided it was too much to ask.
Prso will play on, however, and is expected to look for a club in the Far East or United States.
Prso's agent Ranko Stojic revealed: "It's better for everybody that he leaves on good terms and finds another club in another country.
"He will play on for sure. We could make a decision on where he plays in the next 10 days or two weeks."
Asked whether 32-year-old Prso could join LA Galaxy-bound David Beckham in the US Major League, Stojic said: "That's an option, the United States or the Far East are options he will consider."
Stojic added: "We visited a specialist and he was positive and said Dado could play for one more year, but it's important to him that he can play every week.
"He must be careful. We decided together that in Scotland, especially in Rangers, he wouldn't be able to train as much as he wants. It's impossible.
"He wants somewhere where the game is not as intense maybe. He said one year ago that if he's not 100% he would leave Rangers."
Prso admits he had little option but to advise Rangers of his imminent exit.
Manager Walter Smith had hoped the big frontman would be able to play on, having been impressed by his influence on the team.
Prso told www.rangers.co.uk: "It's so frustrating for me. I knew I would have to stop playing one day, but that doesn't make it any easier once that time comes.
"I have spoken to the coach about my decision and it was a sad feeling."
He added: "This season has been very difficult for me. I have had a lot of injuries and it's been tough.
"For next year the specialist told me I will need even more rest and that makes it difficult for me to continue at this level.
"That is why I think it is better for everybody that I see out my contract in the summer."
