The Ligue 1 giants were initially landed with a 180,000 euro fine but an appeal court, which met on March 31, has reduced the monetary punishment.

However, that has done little to appease the club who have been left fuming at the decision.

"This punishment is unjust and inappropriate for Paris St Germain taking into consideration the actions of the club in their battle against the use of flares," read a statement on the official website www.psg.fr.

"This punishment is also unjust towards the supporters. It could punish several thousand supporters for infractions committed by a tiny minority.

"This punishment is therefore unacceptable for Paris St Germain. The club will therefore explore every administrative and legal recourse in order to defend their position and prove the unjustified and disproportionate nature of this punishment."
