LYON boss Claude Puel today hinted he would be prepared to sell striker Bafetimbi Gomis to Fenerbahce.
Puel confirmed there had been contact with the Turkish side over Gomis, who is reportedly the subject of a 13million euro (£10.8million) bid.
That would represent a loss on the 14.2million euros Lyon paid Saint Etienne for the France forward a year ago.
But his sale would fund prospective moves for the likes of Loic Remy or Andre-Pierre Gignac.
Speaking at a press conference to promote this weekend's Emirates Cup, which will see Lyon play Celtic tomorrow and AC Milan on Sunday, Puel said: "It's true that there's been contact between the two clubs regarding a transfer and it could interest us eventually.
"If Bafetimbi stays with us, that would be great.
"There's the economic aspect, which you always have to take into consideration."
Gomis was signed on a five-year contract last summer and while not exactly a flop, he has not managed to make himself indispensable either.
Puel added: "Of course, there are financial considerations, and there's the sporting side of things.
"When you allow a player to leave, there can always be a knock-on effect for the sporting side of things.
"But we hope that won't be the case."
Lyon have only signed one player this summer in Jimmy Briand but captain Cris believes the lack of new faces at Stade Gerland may not be a bad thing.
"I think it's good that we've kept the essence of the squad unchanged - the same players," said the defender, who led his side to their first ever Champions League semi-final last season.
"It's good that we haven't changed very much in that sense.
"I think it's good for the coach as well, because he already knows the players.
"He has the chance to carry on the work that he started with the squad last season.
"That's always important when you make the start to a new championship campaign that's already intense.
"We've been working together for a year, so that gives us a bit of a head start."
