Golden boots for football's golden girl
Puma has unveiled a one-of-a-kind pair of golden boots for the inaugural women’s Ballon d’Or winner, Ada Hegerberg.
The Olympique Lyonnais forward took to Twitter to exhibit the predominantly gold cleat, which has a black collar and the words ‘BELIEVE IN YOURSELF’ inscribed on the inside foot.
Similarly, the surname of the 23-year-old superstar appears alongside the flag of her birth nation on the outside heel.

Modelled on the Puma One 1, the boots are an effort to commemorate the on-field successes of the award-winner and provide true recognition to an incredible athlete, particularly after the award’s controversial presentation detracted from this.
A role model for young female footballers aspiring for a professional career in the sport they love, Hegerberg wrote on Twitter: “Every girl has a dream, please believe in yourself!”

The Norwegian’s incredible 2018-19 season so far has seen her score at a goal-a-game ratio across both the Division 1 Feminine and the UEFA Women’s Champions League.
Thus far, Hegerberg’s Lyon sit atop the table domestically and have progressed to the quarter-finals of the Champions League after demolishing Ajax 13-0 on aggregate in the Round of 16.
Unlike Nike’s ‘Golden Touch’ Mercurial boots which were created in honour of Luka Modric’s Ballon d’Or win, Hegerberg’s gold Puma One 1’s are unlikely to be manufactured in larger quantities for retail purchase.
