The Qatar coach, also known as the "White Witch Doctor" after his heroics with Senegal at World Cup 2002, said Qatar must withstand the first 15 minutes of tomorrow night's match in Brisbane if they have a chance of getting a result.

And he'd be rapt with a point.

"Of course, a draw would be a beautiful result ... but the pressure is on Australia. A draw would not be good for them," he said.

Mestu added he will be missing his regular keeper and injured defenders Marconi Amaral, Bilal Mohamed and Hossein Yassa.

"Physically I can't change the height of the players," he joked in response to Australia's physical domination of its opponents in two World Cup qualifiers earlier this year.

"Sometimes in football you need big confidence also work very well. We've worked very well in the last eight days [in Australia].

"But to prepare the team you need more time," said the Qatar coach who will be in the dugout for the first time tomorrow night for the Annabi.

"But all I think about [since gettting the job] is Australia, Australia, Australia – day and night."

Metsu's decision to start the press conference earlier than planned angered many of the local media who arrived mid-press conference in farcical scenes.
He's hoping to catch out Australia tomorrow night.

Officials say 7,000 public tickets are still left for tomorrow night's game.
