Logan United recorded only their second win of the season, with a 3-2 victory over Whitsunday Miners. Daniel Gecic scored two for Logan United within five minutes just after the break, and despite equalising through Troy Mundy and Daniel Scotton, Gecic hit the back of the net in the last minute to complete his hat-trick and lift United off the bottom of the ladder and into ninth place.

Bundaberg Spirit hosted Brisbane Strikers in what was another courageous team effort by Lyn Hodgkinson’s men. Gareth Musson scored for the visitors just before halftime giving them a boost heading into the dressing rooms, before Michael Butters doubled their lead in the second half from a corner.

Redlands City Devils made the trip north to play Capricorn Cougars at Jardine Park. Cougars started well and took the lead in the 27th minute through a well-taken penalty from Daniel Cox. Redlands equalised almost instantly through Troy Wickstein, and additional goals from Irishman Barry Moran, Paul Mellers and Pat Polistino secured the win for the Devils. They now sit second on the table, six points behind Sunshine Coast FC and two points clear of third-placed Strikers.

Sunshine Coast FC ensured a tiring day of travelling would not go to waste, beating NQ Razorbacks 2-1 in Townsville. Both teams played exciting attacking football in the first half, creating lots of chances but it was the visitors who scored just before half-time. The second half proved to be a more vintage performance from the top team on the ladder, commanding the play and dominating possession before Ben Knight eventually doubled their lead with 15 minutes to go. Lee Mayberry gave the Razorbacks hope converting a penalty late in the game but Sunshine Coast FC held on to take the three points and remain unbeaten in the league.

In the only Brisbane encounter of the round, Queensland Academy of Sport went down 4-0 to a rejuvenated Olympic FC in a physical encounter on Sunday afternoon. Olympic scored two in each half, through Stephane Lago, Chris Hagell, Shane Coffey and a QAS own goal to keep up with the league’s top four, sitting three points behind NQ Razorbacks.
