Sunshine Coast FC wrapped up the Queensland State League’s inaugural minor premiership in style, hitting five past a ten man Olympic FC side.
Capricorn Cougars beat Logan United to do the double over Justin Kilshaw’s men this season, a single Adam Sarota goal was enough for Brisbane Strikers to see off the NQ Razorbacks, Queensland Academy of Sport had to wait for a late winner to seal the deal against Bundaberg Spirit while Redlands City Devils got their season back on track, scoring three second half goals against Whitsunday Miners for their first win in three games.
Brisbane Strikers hosted NQ Razorbacks in a game important for both teams’ final hopes. A second half goal from young gun Adam Sarota proved to be the decider in the very defensive performance from both sides, after Reece Tollenaere and Myles Carseldine were introduced for the home side, the players bringing a much needed injection of pace and energy to the game. The result sees the Strikers climb to second spot in the league and Razorbacks drop to third.
Elliott Ronto’s third goal of the season in the final stages of the game gave the Queensland Academy of Sport a victory over the bottom placed team in the league, Bundaberg Spirit. The encounter produced numerous chances for both sides but it was the Academy who took the three points after Matt Thurtell’s shot was deflected to the feet of Ronto who made no mistake in hitting the ball home.
Redlands City Devils recorded a 3-0 over a Whitsunday Miners side ravaged with injuries and suspension. Tau Winnie and Pat Polistina are proving to be important signings for the Devils, both impressing and Winnie scoring a double after opening his goal account in their 5-1 loss to Olympic FC last weekend. Troy Wickstein scored the other for the Cleveland side.

Michael Cay’s first goal of the season was levelled by Logan’s Mitch Nelis, but a glancing header from midfielder Joseph Burke and a volley from late substitute Daniel Cox ensured the Cougars took the three points and gave the lively home crowd something to cheer about.
Stockland Park played host to the physical encounter between Sunshine Coast FC and Olympic FC that saw Sunshine Coast FC wrap up the QSL minor premiership with three games to go. Shaun Blackman’s 16th and 17th goals of the campaign, solitary goals to Kema Jack and Jai Cross and a super long range strike from Michael Scarff gave the Coast side the win, and the minor premiership with an impressive goal difference of 50. Despite the scoreline, Olympic were quite competitive although hopes of any sort of consolation from the game were dashed when defender Blake Charity was sent off just after the break.
