Sporting Braga goalkeeper Eduardo and Dynamo Moscow's midfielder Danny have been included in a 22-man squad for next Wednesday's friendly against Faroe Islands in Aveiro.

Cristiano Ronaldo has been left out of the squad as he recovers from ankle surgery while fellow winger Ricardo Quaresma is also sidelined through injury.

The most notable omission from the squad is goalkeeper Ricardo, who was between the posts during Euro 2008, while Miguel Veloso has been selected in the Under-21 side.

The match will provide a key part of Queiroz's preparations ahead of Portugal's World Cup qualification campaign, which begins away to Malta on September 6.

"I am looking forward to starting the preparations for the World Cup qualifying games, and to being with the players, making a team and reaching our objectives," he said.

"We are under a new cycle with new challenges for the national team.

"This is a new cycle. We have bigger objectives that we want to achieve, which will hopefully keep our national team among the world elite."
