Racing Club de Avellaneda won their 18th Argentinian Primera Division title yesterday, but one fan has taken celebrations to spooky new levels, bringing his grandfather’s skull out onto the streets to share in the momentous occasion.

Despite conceding a late equalising goal in Argentina’s top flight to Club Atlético Tigre, the 1-1 result clinched Racing Club an unassailable lead heading into the final round of league fixtures.

In one of Real Madrid's most outstanding performances at the Camp Nou, Los Blancos beat FC Barcelona 3-1 in the Spanish Supercup. Real were leading 2-1 after Cristiano Ronaldo's 80th minute goal, but just before the final whistle, we sealed the win with this beautiful Marco Asensio strike.

Whilst we’ve all accumulated our fair share of crazy celebratory scenes which we’ve witnessed in world football over the years, I doubt you’ll have seen anything quite like this before.


Amongst the masses of Racing Club fans celebrating on the streets of Buenos Aires, one particularly devoted man, Gabriel Aranda, was… thoughtful… enough to bring along the preserved skull of his long-deceased grandfather.

Speaking to TNT Sports, Aranda explains:

"I brought my grandfather, Valentín.”

"I take him out of the niche whenever Racing plays… he's proud because I took him out.”

It’s all in the colourful Argentinian-Spanish dialect and only raises more questions than it provides answers, but take a look at his whacky interview with the Argentinian media outlet below.


The last time Racing Club won the league was in 2014, when they ironically earned a final day 1-1 draw against Tigre.
