Liverpool will only allow France striker Djibril Cisse to leave the club next season if he is offered a permanent deal elsewhere.
Cisse, 25, spent last term on loan at Marseille but Reds boss Rafael Benitez has ruled out another temporary switch.
"The situation with Cisse is clear," he said on the club's official website, www.liverpoolfc.tv.
"If another club wants him, they must buy the player.
"We do not want another loan."
Cisse arrived at Anfield during the summer of 2004 and was part of the Champions League winning side that season.
But he fell out of favour the following year and spent almost the whole of last term at Marseille.
He has two years remaining on his Liverpool contract.
