Real Madrid defender Sergio Ramos insists no one at the club is pushing the panic button as Barcelona threaten to overhaul their lead at the top of the Primera Liga.
Real have lost three of their past four games and could lose top spot on Saturday if they suffer another slip-up against struggling Recreativo Huelva.
Bernd Schuster's side's lead over Barca, which had looked virtually insurmountable before Christmas, is now down to two points - and they even lost their 100% home record last weekend when they went down 1-0 to Getafe.
That defeat followed a 2-1 defeat at Real Betis and even a 7-0 thrashing of Valladolid the game before can not disguise the fact Real are in the midst of an alarming loss of form.
Their Champions League future is also far from certain after a 2-1 second-round first-leg defeat at Roma as a season which had looked so bright threatens to implode.
Ramos though claims the team are not thinking about the possibility of being overtaken by Barcelona.
He told the club's official website, www.realmadrid.com: "That would be another mistake. We have a winning mentality and we are going to remain calm. If it happens, we will simply have to keep fighting hard in order to win in May.
"I think it is clear that we've recently had a weak streak. We are truly united and we must stay calm and keep our feet on the ground.
"The league is far from being over and we are still in the Champions League. We depend on ourselves. Let's see what happens in the end."
But the Spain international admitted the squad have tried to put their finger on what has gone wrong at the Bernabeu.
"It isn't anything in particular," he added. "We are leaders in La Liga and we are still in the Champions League. Three months ago, any team would have liked to be in the situation we are in right now.
"We don't divulge what we talk about, but we've obviously tried to come up with solutions. We are more united than ever now and we must to put an end to this bad run."
Real's cause has not been helped by injuries to a host of key players, but one of those, Robinho, should return on Saturday.
Michel Salgado and Marcelo could also be fit for the clash with Recre, but Ruud van Nistelrooy (ankle) and long-term injury victim Christoph Metzelder are definitely out, while Guti, Fabio Cannavaro and Wesley Schneider are doubtful.
Recre need a victory for very different reasons as they look to pull clear of the drop zone.
The home side are just two points above the bottom three, but a return of seven points from their past three games suggests they have run into some form.
And Real full-back Salgado knows the leaders will have their work cut out if they are to get back to winning ways.
He said: "There's something at stake for everyone at this stage in the competition, so nobody relaxes anymore, not even on their own turf. This is why the second part of the campaign is always harder.
"We must learn from our mistakes because the titles begin being at stake this month. Every game is a final from now on."
Recre's recent revival has boosted hopes of survival and coach Manolo Zambrano insists the visit of Real holds no fear.
"We are in the condition to meet any challenge that we face," he told the club's official website, www.recreativohuelva.com.
Recre though will be without the injured Jesus Vazquez, who has been ruled out for between two and four weeks with a fractured toe, but Martin Caceres and Florent Sinama-Pongolle should be fit despite being unable to train fully this week.
