The midfielder, 21, helped secure a 2-0 win for Rangers in the Bank of Scotland Premier League clash with a superb free-kick at Ibrox on Saturday.

While the Celtic wall jumped in anticipation of his usual flighted, curling set-pieces, Adam left them stunned by rolling the ball along the ground and into the back of the net instead.

But the Ibrox youngster admits he did have a helping hand from the Hoops' last line of defence.

"The wall lined up and I saw Artur Boruc shouting at his wall to tell then to jump," he confessed.

"I thought 'if they're going to jump why not put it underneath?'

"It went into the back of the net and I scored my first Old Firm goal. It's unbelievable.

"I was surprised because Celtic never jump but this time I saw the goalie telling them to jump. Maybe it was because of the goals they lost last week.

"I don't think he saw me seeing him telling them to jump."

Adam also told how he decided to take inspiration from one of the best players in the world when he lined up the shot.

Ronaldinho famously netted a similar free-kick during Barcelona's 2-0 Champions League victory over Werder Bremen back in December.

And Adam added: "I saw Ronaldinho doing it. I thought if I keep it low and try to get it under the wall then Boruc won't expect it.

"To see it hit the back of the net was a great feeling.

"To score against your closest rivals is a great feeling but every goal you score for Rangers is a special moment.

"It's something that's going to live in my memory for a long time."

As for any more Ronaldinho type free-kicks? "We'll wait and see!"

Right now, Adam is hoping the goal will have helped cement his place in manager Walter Smith's plans for next season.

Adam has found the back of the net an impressive 14 times from the midfield during his breakthrough season at Rangers but knows he will face stiff competition for places next season.

He said: "At any club there are going to be players coming in. Once you think you're secure in the side, you're out the side.

"I never rest on my laurels and I know there's going to be players coming in.

"Hopefully the manager will look at the goals I've scored this season and my performances and give me a chance next year."
