Arsenal won the trophy for the second time in three years with two goals from teenage star Jack Wilshere and another from impressive striker Eduardo.

It provided the Scottish giants with a wake-up call ahead of their Champions League campaign this season but despite the heavy defeat, Miller does not believe Rangers were outclassed.

"It is no disgrace to lose to Arsenal like we did," said Miller. "They are a fantastic team. They pass the ball and move so well, they are a total football team.

"Obviously we are disappointed with the goals we conceded. They were easy goals to give away. We can defend better.

"I've seen teams come to Arsenal and get beat 7-0 in the Champions League so it is no disgrace to lose. We had two good games against Paris St Germain and Arsenal to prepare us for the Champions League this year. We thoroughly enjoyed the tournament."

Meanwhile midfielder Steven Whittaker admits Arsenal were so good that at times it felt as if they had 12 men on the pitch.

"It is very difficult when you come up against 11 players who are all as comfortable on the ball as Arsenal's team is," said Whittaker.

"They know where to pass, where to put the ball and they play such an entertaining style of football.

"Sometimes it was like they had more men in their team. You want to go tight with a player sometimes but when you do, you feel like you're leaving someone else in space.

"We found ourselves defending very deep at times but to be honest, that was the way we had to play to make sure we didn't concede more goals."

Meanwhile, Rangers star Nacho Novo has advised teenager John Fleck to add hard work to his qualities as a player.

Fleck was left playing for the reserves in Northern Ireland instead of being with the first-team squad at the Emirates tournament.

Boss Walter Smith insists that his absence had nothing to do with a bust-up involving assistant coach Ally McCoist in Germany.

Spanish midfielder Novo said: "The most important thing is hard work.

"It's the same for the young players and for the older ones. You must be prepared to work for everything you get. It's fine to have quality but to be a top player you need to be strong mentally.

"That's what the older players will all tell John. He has everything he needs in the game but you must remember to always work hard."

Smith added: "We left him out for another reason and he's been off playing with the reserves in Northern Ireland. When I made the decision to leave him out, I didn't even know about the other thing."
