Juventus coach Claudio Ranieri admits he has been pleasantly surprised by the goalscoring exploits of Amauri this season.
The Brazilian, who joined Juve in the summer from Palermo, has replaced injured Frenchman David Trezeguet in the line-up and continued his fine form with a brace in yesterday's 4-2 win over AC Milan.
"He has impressive physical strength," said Ranieri. "I did not expect him to score as many goals as David Trezeguet because they are two different types of player."
Amauri has adapted well at Juve and is the team's top scorer in Serie A with 10 goals.
"I have to say Amauri joined us at the right moment," Ranieri continued. "He has experience, is mature and is proving crucial for us."
Amauri was delighted with his performance against Milan but more so with the outcome, which allowed Juve to take sole possession of second place in the standings, six points behind Serie A leaders Inter.
"I am very happy to have scored two goals against a good team like Milan," said Amauri. "But the most important thing is the victory.
"We played a great game and we deserved this victory."
Juve travel to Bergamo on Sunday to meet Atalanta in their final match of the year.
