The 21-year-old, who made his A-League debut in Round 7, said he was keen to continue developing under new head coach Steve Corica.

“I’ve got so much left to learn and I believe I can develop even more under (Corica)," Lokoli-Ngoy said after re-signing for another year.

“I’m excited for the year ahead and I want to prove myself here and in the AFC Champions League.”

Lokoli-Ngoy rose through the Sydney youth and NPL squads, scoring 27 goals in 28 games in his breakout season, 2016, before earning a one year scholarship and subsequent one-year deal as a member of Sydney FC’s record breaking A-League squad.

Corica said he was looking forward to seeing the young striker develop further in the new season.

“Charlie is an exciting raw talent and I’m eager to see him further hone his game this year,” he said.

“He’s quick and strong and has plenty to offer the squad, now it’s about harnessing his skills and unleashing him on the competition.

“I’m expecting Charlie to provide stiff competition for places this season and make his mark in season 2018/19.”

Sydney FC’s Hyundai A-League squad return on July 2nd for preseason training.
