READING have denied any contact has been made by Liverpool regarding a bid for the club's Australian goalkeeper Adam Federici.
The 24-year-old Aussie stopper has been the centre of speculation after it was suggested Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez was impressed by his display in their recent FA Cup tie.
And Federici's father, Tony, publicly claimed this week the Reds had made contact with the player's agent.
But Reading director of football Nick Hammond played down the speculation, claiming there was little to it.
"I think Adam has done exceptionally well since the difficult transition from number two to number one," Hammond told the Reading Chronicle.
"But we've had no contact from anyone regarding him. We have a big squad and the pressure remains in terms of balancing the books.
"The key is keeping the players who are integral to us moving forward. If we trade it will be on our terms."
