According to www.au.fourfourtwo.com sources, Teddy Sheringham will not join Sydney FC despite reports of a one year deal.
The West Ham striker – who turns 41 next month and is out-of-contract this European summer - looks set to remain in Europe or possibly take up an offer in the US or the Middle East.
We can also reveal that the Moore Park club have had contact with a number of other Premiership stars, including Patrick Berger, Jimmy Floyd Hasselbank and Andrew Cole. But like Sheringham, these veterans have priced themselves out of a move to the Harbour City.
However, the club appears set to continue its pursuit of a marquee signing ahead of A-League V3.
Sheringham’s agent Barry Neville reportedly said recently, “Teddy wants to carry on playing football and whether that is in Australia, the United States, England or the Middle East, he will make his mind up at the end of the season.”
Meanwhile, Sydney FC are due to arrive back at Sydney airport this morning where they will hold a press conference following their stunning 2-1 away win over Chinese side Shanghai Shenhua on Wednesday night.
