Uruguay forward Alvaro Recoba will miss his side's opening Copa America fixture against Peru on Tuesday through injury.
Coach Oscar Washington Tabarez finally confirmed the starting line-up and the Internazionale forward was not included after he failed to overcome a muscular spasm in his right thigh.
Recoba was unable to finish training on Sunday and did not take part in a session on Monday evening.
Doctors confirmed that Recoba's leg will be scanned to assess the extent of the injury, with initial medical reports suggesting he should be fit to take part in later games.
Deportivo La Coruna's Fabian Estoyanoff will take Recoba's place in the side.
