THE New York Red Bulls announced Friday they will host 2006 Champions League winners Barcelona in a friendly at Giants Stadium on August 6.
This marks Barcelona's third trip in the last five years to the United States, following tours in 2003 and 2006.
The two sides met on the 2006 tour, with Barcelona posting a 4-1 victory on August 12 in front of a near record-breaking Giants Stadium crowd of 79,002.
Barcelona completed the 2007-08 La Liga season in third place and advanced to the semi-finals of the Champions League.
