After a weekend of favourable results for his men was topped off with a 2-0 defeat of Blackburn on Sunday, Spurs reclaimed fourth place in the standings.

With games at Bolton Wanderers then Aston Villa coming up for his side, Redknapp is aware that the race for a top-four spot is going to be a close-run one.

"Even before the game it was in our own hands," Redknapp told Sky Sports after victory over Blackburn.

"We've got to win our games. It's going to be tight. We've got two really hard away games this week, Bolton who are in good form and then we go to Villa who still need a result probably.

"Then there's Fulham at home and that's a very difficult game, we'll see how we go, we've just got to keep trying to win the games.

"If we win all our games no-one can finish above us, that’s the top and bottom of it.

"We have a much better goal average than Newcastle but we've got to win the games.

"Chelsea are looking very dangerous, they're in fantastic form, but we'll see how we go."

Blackburn boss Steve Kean remained positive despite the defeat at White Hart Lane, the Scot refusing to give up on his side's chances of Premier League survival.

With two matches remaining Blackburn sit in 19th place, three points short of safety.

And Kean knows that it will take something special from his side to avoid what seems to be an impending drop to the Championship.

"It's tough but we have to look at the positives," Kean said.

"We need two monumental performances and two massive results. We've got Wigan up next, if we beat Wigan we go to Chelsea and we keep going, keep chasing.

"We've had many monumental performances this season. Some really good home wins, some back-to-back clean sheets. We'll probably need that again and I have trust and faith in the lads."
