Steven Fletcher fired the visitors ahead at Loftus Road, but Redknapp's side made it consecutive victories via a resounding comeback with goals to Loic Remy, Andros Townsend and Jermaine Jenas.

QPR remain four points from safety, but former Tottenham boss Redknapp now knows his side has the momentum and the spirit to pull off a Houdini-esque escape to get out of the bottom three.

"It was a good performance to come from 1-0 down," he told Sky Sports.

"I felt we didn't deserve to be one down as we started well with a good tempo, we passed the ball well - better than I have seen us play since I came here, in an attacking sense.

"But to one down against the run of play but to come back and equalise, I felt it was an excellent first half.

"In the second half they started well and for the first 10 to 15 minutes they were the better team, but we came back into it and got the goals at the right time."

Redknapp also knows they can't afford to slip up in the run-in to May, as QPR have only nine more league fixtures to save their Premier League status.

"It was a good team performance, but we have to do that week in, week out and we have to have a real run of results like that if we are to get out of this, we need 36 or 37 points and that six points in two games has made a real difference to us," he said.

Sunderland have now dropped four of their past five league matches, drawing the other, to sit just six points above the drop.

And manager Martin O'Neill said he had one eye on the clubs below him, as the Wearsiders looked to stave off the unlikely threat of relegation.

"It's a tough old set of fixtures for us between now and the end of the season," he said. "We need to get some points on the board.

"The players in the dressing room are disappointed but we're looking to respond as we have done before.

"It's a big game next week," he added, referring to their hosting of Norwich.
