Wanderers shot-stopper was culpable in Sunday’s 2-2 draw with Newcastle Jets at Spotless Stadium where the visitors scored twice in the final 10 minutes.

The 27-year-old former Melbourne City keeper has been preferred ahead of Jerrad Tyson this season and Popovic confirmed he’d retain his spot against the Mariners.

Popovic was also asked if Redmayne’s form was a concern for him, which he replied to with a brief “no”, despite admitting the gloveman had made a mistake.

“We didn’t talk specifically to him,” Popovic said.

“I think I mentioned after the game, we were more interested in how it got to that stage that we put ourselves under pressure and how it got to the stage of us giving away two free-kicks away on the edge of the box.

“If you look at both instances we had the ball prior to that. We have to do better with the ball when we’re not under pressure.

“On both goals we were under no pressure and we gave the ball away.

“Okay the mistake happens after that, but we need to correct the first part, the second part won’t happen.”
