Adelaide United skipper Michael Valkanis has blasted the A-League for a fixture list he argues is biased in favour of other clubs such as Sydney FC.
"The A-League draw seems to favour every other club but us," he told Fox Sports. "In our first seven matches we have five away matches and we need to travel over 18,000km.
"No other team in the league's first round gets to play five matches away from home. Our old foe from the big smoke, Sydney "Bling" FC, only travels away twice in the first round.
"Now I'm not whingeing, but how hard is it to make an even draw when you've only got eight clubs in the competition?"
Valkanis's side travels to Queensland for Saturday's clash with Roar and then visits Sydney the following week.
This latest blast in a long-running war of words with Sydney is set to spice up their round two clash even more.
"I know business deals must be looked after," said Valkanis. "But at what expense?
"We live and die for the main A-League prize and a chance to be kings of Asian football in the Asian Champions League."
He added: "The draw is a little hard to take."
What do you think? Does Valkanis have a point? Is this draw unfair on the Reds? Or is this just Adelaide whinging? Tell us now in the comments section below.
