Spaniard Aaron Niguez (Braga), Senegalese Mohamed Coullibaly (Sporting Santander) and Paraguayan Pablo Zeballos (Sportivo Luqueño) are all reportedly being lined up as potential marksmen for the Reds next season.

United CEO Grant Mayer acknowledged the importance of rebuilding the squad after four of their key players left in Craig Goodwin, Stefan Mauk, Pablo Sanchez and Bruce Djite, plus Bruce Kamau.

The Reds football department could enjoy a bumper budget to bolster their side for another title tilt.

“We are well aware of the weight of expectation we now carry after being crowned A-League champions,’’ Mayer told the Adelaide Advertiser.

“That said, it’s important that everyone retains some perspective on our position.

“Football staff are working overtime on building a highly competitive squad for 2016-17.

“Time is on our side and we will make the recruitment decisions that are right for the club.

“Ongoing success is top of mind.”

Meanwhile, the Reds have also been linked to Rose, who is a defensive midfielder currently contracted to Coventry City.

The Coventry Telegraph reports that: “Coventry City’s Australian-born holding midfielder Andy Rose, 26, has also been presented to the club after also playing 91 matches for Seattle Sounders in the US Major League Soccer.”
