Armiento joined the Reds for the Foxtel Y-League in 2017/18 and continued his impressive performances with the Youth Team in the local National Premier League this year.

The 19-year-old South Australian finished as the team’s top goal-scorer, netting 12 goals in all competitions for Paul Pezos’ squad.

Armiento, a product of Adelaide City, becomes the seventh Young Reds player under Pezos to make the step up to the senior side and provides Marco Kurz with another quality attacking option.

“This is probably a dream come true for me, especially after going through the youth team and to now be part of the first team at Adelaide United," said Armiento.

“Going into pre-season from the NPL season probably helped me because I was fit and already at a good level.

“I managed to put in a few good performances in the friendly games and every kid wants to play for their hometown team.

“That’s my next goal – getting game time in the A-League and continuing to progress and helping the team where I can.”

Armiento will wear the number 32 shirt for the Reds and brings Kurz’s squad to 26 contracted players for the 2018/19 season.
