The versatile left sided defender/midfielder has signed a two year deal with the Reds after looking like he may go to Scottish Premier side Dundee United.

Born in Sydney, Jamieson has spent the past three years in England with English Premier League club Bolton Wanderers.

He made a total of four appearances for Bolton’s first team during the club’s pre-season campaigns in 2006/07 and 2007/08, playing alongside players such as Nicolas Anelka and El-Hadji Diouf.

Most of his time was spent in Bolton’s reserves and academy sides and he was a member of Bolton’s reserves who were crowned Premier League Reserve League North Champions in 2006/07, finishing above the likes of Liverpool and Manchester United’s reserves teams.

Adelaide United Coach Aurelio Vidmar said the club had kept an eye on Jamieson’s progress and that the 19 year old possessed the qualities to benefit The Reds.

“For 19 years of age Scott has played a lot of games, and after not getting a lot of first team football in England he decided to come back to Australia and we think he will fit in well at Adelaide United,” Vidmar said.

“He is a left footer who is suited to playing at left back. He’s quick, aggressive, has got a great attitude and he definitely knows how to play so he will be a great addition to the squad.”

The 19 year old is a former Qantas Joeys (Under 17) representative and also went to Westfields Sports High School with talented Adelaide United attacking midfielder Nathan Burns.

Jamieson was trialling with Scottish Premier League club Dundee United following his time at Bolton, but in his search to play first team football, he returned to Australia and is delighted to be part of Adelaide United’s squad and have the opportunity to compete in the Hyundai A-League.

“Coming back to Australia, I want to try and get first team football and test myself in the Hyundai A-League, which is a good, competitive league that continues to get better,” Jamieson said.

“I kept tabs on the club’s progress from over in England and Burnsy kept me informed on how the team has been going. Adelaide United is a good team that plays strong football so I am grateful to Aurelio (Vidmar) for the chance to join the squad.”

Jamieson will arrive in Adelaide for the start of The Reds’ pre season training, commencing on June 23.
