EXCLUSIVE: No-one at Adelaide United is prematurely polishing the Premier's Plate with the club's football director confident mind games and spin won't scupper the campaign as the finishing line looms.
The Reds are in a very strong position to life the trophy with a game in hand over second-placed Melbourne Victory.
But should Queensland Roar win at Hindmarsh Stadium tomorrow night then it's game-on again.
Comments along the lines of 'it's Adelaide's to lose' have been bandied about but the club won't allow itself to be distracted.
Michael Petrillo told au.fourfourtwo.com today: "This is the most important game of our season and it's one we're all looking forward to.
"Others can have their say about our position but it's very easy for others to try and put the onus on another club.
"We know there is still a fair way to go and nobody is going to take their eyes off the ball.
"We aren't the only team that wants to finish top and Queensland will come here knowing that if they can get a result then it gives them hope as well.
"As I said, everyone knows there is still work to do. We're not looking ahead any further than the next game, Queensland on Wednesday night. Then we'll look at the next match and so on."
