EXCLUSIVE: Adelaide United say striker Sergio Van Dijk has a contract for two more seasons and are playing down reports of a possible switch to Indonesian club Pelita Jaya.
On Wednesday Pelita Jaya team manager Lalu Mara told au.fourfourtwo.com that discussions have taken place with Van Dijk over a potential move to the Indonesian Super League club.
It’s not the first time the 28-year-old striker of Indo-Dutch heritage has been linked with the ambitious Jakarta-based outfit but the Reds were keen to play down any transfer talk.
United told au.fourfourtwo.com that Van Dijk had a long term contract at Hindmarsh.
“[We] cannot confirm that discussions with Pelita Jaya have been held. He is contracted to Adelaide United for another two seasons,” the club said on Thursday.
Adelaide United added that there were no further developments on the Jon McKain front after the Socceroo was linked with a move to Hindmarsh from Saudi Arabian club Al Nasr.
