Referee Mark Clattenburg will not be involved in this weekend's football fixtures.
The latest move in the saga follows a decision by the Football Association to launch an investigation into claims made by Chelsea that Clattenburg directed 'inappropriate language' at two of their players during Sunday's 3-2 defeat against Manchester United at Stamford Bridge.
The Premier League encounter was a tightly contested affair, with Clattenburg coming under scrutiny for a number of controversial decisions in the match.
But Chelsea lodged a complaint claiming Clattenburg had used language towards Juan Mata and John Obi Mikel which they are believed to have interpreted as racist.
In light of this, the Professional Game Match Officials Board have released a statement suggesting that it would be unfair to clubs and supporters for the 37-year-old to take part as it would detract from the game.
The PGMOB said that 'the intense level of scrutiny would detract from match and be unfair to the clubs and the supporters of both sides'.
