It was announced on 26 October Berisha would serve a two-game suspension and subsequently missed games against Central Coast Mariners and Western Sydney Wanderers, which both finished 1-1.

The fiery striker now returns to face his old club Brisbane Roar at Etihad Stadium on Saturday night and was keen to put the incident behind him.

“I think I touched the referee and you cannot touch the referees,” Berisha admitted.

“I got two games, I accepted (it) and moved on. The most important thing is you have to learn from your mistakes and hopefully it doesn’t happen ever again.

“I want to play, help my team and I hope that was a lesson. I’ve learnt from it and now I move on and I can help the team against Brisbane.

“(This is) the game I love and want to play. It’s been a tough time seeing the boys fighting in the field and I wasn’t there, so I’m very happy to be back.”

It is currently Victory’s worst start to a season in the club’s history as they sit seventh with three points after five games.

However, the Kosovan denies the club is in panic mode and conceded the departures of internationals James Troisi, Kosta Barbarouses and Mark Milligan had an effect on the squad.

James Donachie is also another key out with a quad injury.

“We had a tough start, for us definitely not… we don’t see it as a crisis,” he said.

“I missed two games, some have been on internationals, we’ve been missing players every game, but we’ve had a tough start and we want to win for sure.

“We don’t like it so far having no wins, but we’re a good team, we’re positive and I believe it will pay off.

“It’s not easy to always have different players in the field and swap players every week, so far we’ve dealt with it well.”
