QPR striker Loic Remy has been arrested and is one of three men being questioned on suspicion of rape.
The 26-year-old Frenchman joined the Loftus Road outfit in January for £8 million from Marseille.
He proved a success on the field, scoring six times in 13 Premier League appearances, and is expected to leave QPR in the off-season following the club's relegation to the Championship.
A brief statement from Scotland Yard confirmed that Remy was under investigation though for an incident that occurred just over a week ago.
It read: "Officers from Sapphire are investigating an allegation of rape which happened on May 6 in the west London area.
"The allegation was passed on to the MPS (Metropolitan Police Service) by Kent Police on May 8 after the 34-year-old female victim reported it to them on the previous day, May 7. The victim alleges she was raped by three men.
"On the morning of Wednesday, May 15 three men, (A) aged 26; (B) aged 23; (C) 22 yrs, were arrested at an address in Fulham on suspicion of rape - they remain in custody at a west London police station."
