Wilkshire, 36, is a reigning A-League Premiership winner with Sydney FC, but as the Sky Blues seek to refresh their ageing squad, the former NSL Champions are emerging as a potential destination.

The 80-cap Socceroo would bring some star power to the Wolves, which are currently one of the frontrunners for an A-League expansion franchise, but sit eighth in the NSW National Premier League.

Wolves CEO, Chris Papakosmas, didn't deny the Wolves were making a bid for Wilkshire.

“I won’t be confirming or denying anything but obviously we are always on the lookout to add to our stocks," he told local journalist Dylan Arvela

“Whenever we sign someone we wait until everything is done and then we announce it.”

Wilkshire would join Josh Macdonald, Justin Pasfield and Nick Montgomery on a Wolves roster increasingly-packed with A-League experience.
