GOALSCORER Dimitar Berbatov claimed the result was all that mattered as Manchester United beat Blackburn to stay within two points of Barclays Premier League leaders Chelsea.
The Red Devils spurned several chances to make the result more comprehensive at Old Trafford, but the Bulgarian scored the opener before Wayne Rooney made the game safe.
Berbatov was not concerned by the scoreline, and told ESPN: "One-nil is good as well as long as you get the three points. Two-nil, four-nil, it doesn't matter - as long as we keep on winning I think everyone will be happy.
"In the first half, I had a couple of chances to score - you need to be patient and when another chance comes, you need to score it.
"I was glad that I scored my chance, and Wayne Rooney scored another one and it was finished for Blackburn.
"It is always difficult to play against Blackburn, but always when you score a goal you are relieved because you feel that you have done something special, and that was the case."
