RHYS Williams could find himself swapping a promotion chase for the cauldron of a Tyne-Tees relegation scrap after returning to Middlesbrough from loan club Burnley.
The Perth-born defender, who could yet represent either Australia or Wales at full international level, enjoyed a successful temporary stint with the Clarets and helped them secure a Championship play-off spot.
Sadly for Williams his loan deal only extended to the end of the regular season and he has returned to Boro as they prepare for a crucial relegation battle with Newcastle United on Monday.
Burnley are sad to see him go and manager Owen Coyle believes it has been a win-win situation. He told BBC Sport: "He has been great for us, and equally I think that we have been great for him."
While Williams appears to have a bright club future, the questions remain over his international future.
His agent recently stated that they would be willing to listen to Australia but having been a regular at under 21 level for Wales, Williams told the north east and Welsh media recently that he would probably stick with a red shirt rather than go for green and gold.
