At Selhurst Park, Nick Carle's extended run in the Crystal Palace side ended as the home side went down 1-0 to Leicester City.
The midfielder had started the previous 13 games for Palace, but was an unused substitute in the loss.
The loss leaves Palace hanging precariously just above the relegation zone.
In Italy, Carl Valeri was an unused substitute in Sassuolo's 1-0 win at Cesena.
Sassuolo moves to second in the Serie B after ending the run of four straight losses.
In England's League Two, 19-year-old goalkeeper Dean Bouzanis put in a full shift as Accrington won 2-1 at home to Rotherham.
Bouzanis started with the number one choice keeper suspended for one game after receiving a red card on the weekend.
Accrington's hopes of promotion have been lifted with the win, moving to ninth on the League Two table.
In other League Two action, Chris Herd remained sidelined with an ankle injury as Lincoln City shared the points with Dagenham & Redbridge in a 1-1 draw.
