AUSSIES ABROAD: Rhys Williams scored on the opening day of the Championship season as his brother Ryan made his debut in the 2-2 draw between Middlesbrough and Portsmouth overnight.
Rhys, playing in midfield for Boro, struck a fine goal on 54 minutes with a cool finish after Nicky Bailey's nice throughball.
Earlier, Scott McDonald, who was recalled for the Socceroos squad to face Wales in midweek, set up Marvin Emnes for Boro's opener.
Ryan, Rhys' 17-year-old brother, came off the bench for Portsmouth as a 63rd-minute substitute in the game for his first-team debut.
Elsewhere, Nikita Rukavytsya made his German Bundesliga debut as a 76th-minute substitute as Hertha BSC went down 1-0 at home to FC Nurnberg.
