Brown, 21, impressed during the contest before his late leveller, which equalised Chris Greenacre's first-half strike.

Bleiberg said: “It was a quality goal but I would be taken any type of goal that late in the game. It was the right goal, by the right player at the right time."

Gold Coast fielded a side vastly changed to the one which took to the field in their last A-League match, last season's Preliminary Final, and Bleiberg said he was happy with his new players.

“Overall I was happy with the way we played and we have a good base to build on from here. The ingredients are there," he said.

"We have a lot of new players and we did make a few mistakes today, but that should not overshadow the many good things we did.

“I thought their goalkeeper had an outstanding game and saved them numerous times, so all credit to him.”
