ADELAIDE boss Rini Coolen admits concern about his side's ability to maintain their impressive start to the season after Saturday's 3-1 loss at Newcastle Jets made it three defeats in four games.
"We've already played a lot of games away and we did well," Coolen said.
"At the moment we have a problem with some players who played at a really high level in the first weeks of the competition.
"It's not easy to keep that level, so we have to work on that as a club and a team and improve."
Speaking about the Jets defeat, Coolen added: "We lost the game in the first 15 minutes. It was a really disappointing result with the way we played.
"We came here prepared to find out if we could get the three points and put pressure on Brisbane, but if we want to play how we prefer and be in the top three spots on the table, we need to improve."
Coolen did manage to find some positives from the match however, particularly the performance of Cassio, who was again one of the Reds' standouts.
"Cassio played a real good game, that was positive, he was one of the best players," he said.
"And some of the subs, (Cameron) Watson was good in the midfield and Travis (Dodd) was okay, he's getting fitter and fitter.
"(Iain) Ramsay did some good things, so there were some positives things...but if you start like we did in the first half, you can't win the game."
Adelaide's next match is away to Melbourne Heart on Friday night.
