Risgard accused French referee Laurent Duhamel of being swayed by the Old Trafford experience and failing to send off the Manchester United striker.

The 23-year-old was left stunned after the incident in the first half of the 2-2 draw in the Champions League.

It means United go forward as group winners but Risgard was unhappy with some of the oppositions' behaviour.

He said: "I do not know what happened and why it happened, he (Rooney) was jumping at my chest.

"Maybe he was a little bit frustrated but Manchester United were playing some good football. It was still 1-1.

"I do not think the referee saw it. Anywhere else but this place it would have been a red card.

"These challenges happen in football - I have some big marks - but I do think it looks good on television. He did come and apologise to me after the game."

Risgard added: "There was also another incident with Rooney where he threw an arm, he hurt one of our players.

"We could see United were becoming a little bit frustrated and yelling at each other."

Risgard praised his team's spirit, adding: "We did not create any big chances but scored on the two we had.

"United are a very good team and it is difficult to play here. In the second half we couldn't keep the ball.

"We have written some more history for Danish football. It is fantastic to be a part of this story. I am very happy to get a draw here and now we continue in the UEFA Cup."

Visiting coach Allan Kuhn admitted he did not see the incident, but did suggest that Rooney had spent too much time bothering about Aalborg instead of concentrating on his own game.

"I think he did it but I am not 100% sure, so I can't go after him," said Kuhn.

"I was not sure during the game and I have not seen the pictures, so I cannot be 100% sure. But some of my people have seen it and said it was.

"It is not good for a fantastic footballer. You have to keep your head and stay calm in situations like that, especially when you are a world-class player.

"But that man was a little bit frustrated today.

"Stupid things happen in football but the Champions League people will take care of it if they have seen something on video. I am not worried about it."

United boss Sir Alex Ferguson claimed not to have seen the incident in question either, although he admitted it was a feisty game at times, with Aalborg goalscorer Jeppe Curth fortunate to escape a red card for a wayward challenge on Carlos Tevez.

"Aalborg are not short of tackles are they?" Ferguson said.

"They got stuck in and the one on Carlos was a blatant attack. Probably what saved him was that Carlos got straight up.

"When you get games like that some players react and others don't."

Ferguson will hope UEFA do not take further action against Rooney as it could rob United of one of their star men for a last-16 tie next spring for which Jose Mourinho's Inter Milan and Real Madrid are potential opponents.

The Scot has been at loggerheads for most of the year with Real over their pursuit of Cristiano Ronaldo, with president Ramon Calderon singled out for most of Ferguson's ire.

"That would be a nice party wouldn't it?" he said.

"I look forward to tea and biscuits with Ramon Calderon."

Atletico Madrid, Sporting Lisbon and Lyon, the side United beat at the same stage last season are other possible opponents for the holders.

However, Ferguson accepts United need to become more clinical after spurning a series of opportunities to increase the lead Tevez gave them after just three minutes and then finding themselves behind at the break.

"It is a concern," he said.

"It could be carelessness, it could be anything. But we are missing too many chances and we have done it again tonight.

"If we don't start taking these opportunities at some point we are going to get embarrassed.

"Fortunately it didn't happen tonight but if we are not careful we will get a defeat when we need a win."

Indeed, United won only two matches from their six Group E outings, although they have extended their unbeaten run in Champions League combat to 19.

Not that it will matter much on Saturday when United face a crucial trip to in-form Tottenham.

Former Spurs duo Michael Carrick and Dimitar Berbatov both missed tonight's game, with Ferguson confirming both men are doubts for the White Hart Lane trip.

"Michael has a thigh injury," said Ferguson. "We don't know whether he will make it, which is why I was not prepared to risk Darren Fletcher tonight and only gave Ryan Giggs 45 minutes.

"Dimitar got a kick on the Achilles against Sunderland on Saturday.

"Hopefully he will be okay but we have to let the swelling go down first."
