The 36-year-old midfielder insists he will honour his contract with Uzbek side Bunyodkor after he signed a one-year deal with his current employers last month, but has subsequently been linked with a move to Brazilian outfit Moji-Mirim.

However Rivaldo, who will look to help Bunyodkor overturn a 3-0 deficit when they face Adelaide United in their Asian Champions League semi-final second-leg clash on Wednesday in Tashkent, categorically denied he was set to leave the Uzbek League leaders.

"It's a complete lie," he told the Asian Football Confederation website.

"I have heard about these rumours but I am not going to leave now for Brazil. At present I am with Bunyodkor.

"There is such a club (Moji-Mirim) in Brazil and I know the people running this club but I don't have any desire to return home now."

The former World Player of the Year also revealed part of the reason he agreed to join Bunyodkor was to help improve Uzbekistan football, although he admitted he was surprised at the high standard of players in the country.

"I have played for the strongest clubs in Europe and my aim is to share my experience and knowledge with the local players," Rivaldo added.

"I thought a lot before coming to Uzbekistan but I liked the club chairman's desire to develop this country's football and wanted to help him achieve his goals.

"It was surprising for me to see the talented local players and the level of the game here. I am impressed with some of my team-mates including Server Djeparov, Aziz Haydarov and Timur Kapadze. They have the ability to play for any club in Europe."

Uzbekistan, however, currently lie bottom of Group One in the final Asian qualifying zone for the 2010 World Cup after picking up just one point from their opening three games.
