BRISBANE Roar have appointed former marketing general manager Peter McLennan as the club’s new Chief Executive.
The appointment was finalised today, with McLennan receiving full support from the club's board of directors to officially step into the role he has occupied since the departure of former chief executive Lawrence Oudendyk earlier this year.
McLennan joined Roar in 2007 and board member and Coffee Club owner Emmanuel Drivas said McLennan had proved himself more than capable of taking the club forward.
"The board are delighted to have Peter as the club's CEO and we are confident he will continue to serve the club to the same high standards that culminated in his appointment," Drivas said.
"Peter's strong understanding of the club and the Brisbane marketplace leaves Brisbane Roar in very safe hands."
McLennan said he was excited about taking the club to the next level and is looking forward to a healthy rivalry between Roar and Hyundai A-League newcomers, North Queensland Fury and Gold Coast United.
"It is a real honour to accept this role, particularly at such an exciting time for the club," he said.
"We have a lot of work ahead of us but everyone at the club, from the board to the playing staff, is committed to giving the Brisbane public a football club they can be proud of."
