BRISBANE Roar boss Ange Postecoglou felt his team's lack of sharpness in the final third proved costly against Newcastle but he remains upbeat about his club's chances this season.
Postecoglou was frustrated to leave with a point after watching his team control large portions of the match.
"We certainly had enough of the ball and we moved it quite well," he said.
"In the front third we got some good combinations but just our final pass sometimes let us down and I thought if we were a little bit sharper around the box we could've created some more opportunities."
However, Postecoglou said he remained 'super positive' about Roar's season despite the result and hoped the team could build on the draw.
"We've got to go to Adelaide super positive, try and get a result there too and then hopefully after the break we get some players to come back in (from injury)."
Newcastle boss Branko Culina was relatively pleased with the result, which keeps both sides locked on 13 A-League points.
"We got a point away from home against a team that was desperate to turn things around, and sooner or later they will, but it's always disappointing when you take a lead and don't take full advantage of it," said Culina.
Culina also took time out post-match to praise the strike partnership of Bridges and Haliti who once again combined to give the Jets an early lead, as they did last weekend against the Central Coast Mariners.
"I'm very pleased with Haliti, I think he's on 4 goals (for the season), and Bridgey's been playing some outstanding football and I'm sure that he will convert his opportunities sooner than later," he said.
There will be no rest for Culina's men as they return home briefly before heading across the Tasman to take on Wellington Phoenix in a round 10 catch-up match next Wednesday at Westpac Stadium.
