ANGE Postecoglou admitted his Brisbane Roar outfit had fallen well short in their Boxing Day beating at Skilled Park with the coach acknowledging the club still has some way to go.
Postecoglou said defeat was painful but he had few complaints about the outcome.
"I'm obviously disappointed, it was a big game for us and I guess in the end we fell short, well short," he said.
"I thought the first half hour we were solid, we scored our goal and looked threatening and really they didn't create much, obviously we conceded a soft goal and that gave them the momentum going into the second half.
"Gold Coast were too good and we were second best, we got comprehensively beaten all over the place, we'll have a look at it over the week, but at the moment you just have to say that they were the better side.
"We're very disappointed but I think it just shows where we are as a football club at the moment."
The Roar boss said it was now a case of looking ahead to the next challenge.
"We've just got to take the loss on the chin, get on with things and work hard," he added.
"The focus for us now is the match in two weeks against Wellington and we'll be working hard on the track to ensure a better result."
