Light hearted banter is par for the course at finals time and the Roar boss held a wry smile as he bit back.

“Sydney must have been looking in the mirror when they said that [that Roar choked under pressure] because they were at home and they [still] stuffed it,” Farina said.

He added: “We were away in Adelaide, which is always difficult. I spoke with Kossie (John Kosmina) yesterday and we had a bit of a laugh; he said we choked, but I think they choked even more!”

Aside from the suspended Danny Tiatto, Farina is hopeful that he will not be missing any other key players with most recovering better than expected from Sunday’s game. Craig Moore and Matt McKay are the major concerns, but should make the trip providing they don’t suffer further setbacks this week.

“This week is about recovery and refreshing the players as it’s such a short turnaround for us. It’ll be a pretty light week at training for us,” said Farina.

“We still feel the loss [in Adelaide] as it was a great opportunity, but we didn’t take it and we move on. We’re in the finals and have a massive two games against Sydney now which gives us another bite [at winning a trophy]. This is a new ball game and a new situation.”
