Queensland Roar cite financial reasons behind the collapse in negotiations with Alaves striker John Aloisi.
Queensland Roar has confirmed that the Socceroo striker will not be joining the club, expressing disappointment.
“We were genuine with our interest in bringing John Aloisi to Queensland and our offer reflected that. He (Aloisi) took the offer very seriously but in the end there is some distance between what he can command as a European player and what we are able to offer as an Australian club," said Queensland Roar Chief Executive Lawrence Oudendyk.
“Naturally we are disappointed but we will move on and our search for the right player will continue.”
With 25, Roar were the fifth-best performing side for goals scored in Version 2 of the A-League.
On Friday, the club signed highly-rated attacking midfielder Mitch Nichols with a two-year deal.
