RUNAWAY A-League leaders Brisbane Roar have called on the city to embrace the team playing "some of the best football ever seen in an Australian domestic competition".
With six games to play, Roar are 11 points clear on top of the ladder courtesy of a 19-game unbeaten streak – the longest in A-League history.
Brisbane are undefeated at home this season, a streak which runs 12 games and incorporates last season’s final home game against Sydney FC.
The next opportunity to extend that sequence of unbeaten games comes on Friday night when Brisbane take on Perth Glory at Suncorp Stadium.
McLennan said the position the team now finds themselves in is a reflection of the sterling work done by coach Ange Postecoglou and his football staff.
“In a tight competition such as the A-League, to have gone on a run of 19 games undefeated is a remarkable achievement,” McLennan said.
“With the kids still on school holidays and the team playing outstanding football, Friday night represents a great opportunity to be part of something very special.
“I believe Ange has the team playing some of the best football ever seen in an Australian domestic competition and we’d love to see the entire city get behind them.
"The players know the job isn’t finished yet and a vocal home crowd can only help them push on to even greater heights.”
